Tent London 2014
fiera  OLD TRUMAN BREWERY, HANBURY STREET (OFF BRICK LANE), LONDON , dal 18/09/2014 al 21/09/2014
Tent Exhibitions owns and manages Tent London, sister show Super Brands London; and hosts co-located gallery events.

It takes place between the 18-21 September at the Old Truman Brewery, Hanbury Street (off Brick Lane), London E1 6QR. UK.

Constantly evolving, always thought provoking; design trade shows Tent London & Super Brands London return for their 8th year, with over 280 companies from 29 countries, presenting a vast and diverse range of products by leading global brands, established independents and undiscovered talents. Spectacular installations, a Super Design Gallery, inspirational talks and presentations from country pavilions will make this one of the largest and most popular design destinations during the Festival.

Tent London’s forward thinking and inspiring exhibitors give a valuable insight into the most important design directions to be discovered at this September’s London Design Festival. Here’s a taster of four key trends.

Trend: Raw
This is a trend that relishes the power of process and embraces materials like concrete, wood and metal in their most honest, unrefined form. Texture is particularly celebrated with Setworkshop’s E3 dining table, in polished concrete, hand made to order; Sebastian Cox for Benchmark’s Shake sideboard, made from coppiced chestnut, and Finnish designer By Jalmari’s Broken shelf and table, revealing the rough edges of wood when snapped in two.

Trend: Bold & Beautiful
This story is a fitting and timely antidote against the ubiquity of grey; its time to stop playing it safe and have a little fun with colour. So we see effervescent and powerful brights enliven everything from jewellery and ceramics to furniture and soft furnishings. Be inspired by Sonya Winner’s Rainbow rug, Parris Wakefield Additions’ almost luminous Zig Zag cushion and chromatic effect Spin jewellery by Inca Starzinksy.

Trend: Frame
Design reduced to simple lines, this trend looks at shapes that act as a shorthand pictogram for anything from a stool to a coat stand. These frames often appear in bold primaries or stark black, formed from tubular metal into shapes that resemble an exercise in geometry. Look no further than Studio Philipp Beisheim’s radically reduced dodecahedron shaped Reorganised coat rack, the three intersecting tubular steel frames of the Olly stool from Junction Fifteen and Shane Holland’s Wilde Cage lamp.

Trend: Refraction
When it comes to surface design, optical trickery is everywhere this season, with Pop Art brights adding a welcome shot of colour and an almost frenetic energy to wallpapers, pictures and fabrics. For the best examples, see Helene Jellestad’s kaleidoscopic pictures in punchy brights, Sian Elin’s graphic modern take on an Ancient Eastern design for wallpaper called Tress and Northmore Major, printed linen designed by Rachel Parker at Flock.
