27/01/2025 - I disegni architettonici di Steven Holl saranno oggetto di una mostra al Museum for Architectural Drawing della Tchoban Foundation di Berlino. Steven Holl - Drawing as Thought è il nome dell'esposizione che metterà in scena i disegni in bianco e nero di un architetto di fama internazionale che, oltre ad edifici distintivi, ha creato un'opera artistica di oltre 50.000 schizzi, disegni in bianco e nero e acquerelli. Curata da Kristin Feireiss, l'esposizione sarà visitabile dal 7 febbraio al 4 maggio 2025.

Protagonisti della mostra sono i disegni di grande formato dei suoi progetti vincenti. Solo una piccola parte del vasto corpus di opere firmate dall'architetto sarà esposta e ogni disegno è pensato per essere esplorato e studiato singolarmente.

Tra le altre opere, la mostra comprende i progetti non realizzati per il Palazzo del Cinema di Venezia (1990) e Porta Vittoria a Milano (1986), oltre a bozze per edifici noti come il Kiasma Museum for Contemporary Art di Helsinki (1993-1998), la Chapel of St. Ignatius per l'Università di Seattle (1994-1997), il Maggie's Centre di Londra (2012-2017) e il REACH, Kennedy Center di Washington (2012-2019).

Non mancano gli schizzi per il suo ritiro sul lago a Rhinebeck, vicino al fiume Hudson - il suo ʻluogo idealeʼ per disegnare.

Il lavoro dell'architetto si basa su tre 'missioni' principali: l'arte che guida l'architettura, la necessità dell'attenzione ecologica e il significato dello spazio, della luce, della materia e del dettaglio come fenomeni sperimentali.

In occasione dell'inaugurazione, il 6 febbraio 2025 alle 17.00, l'architetta e studiosa di Roma Diana Carta, terrà una conversazione con Steven Holl e Sergei Tchoban nel Laboratorio Metropolitano Aedes.
